Southern Adirondack Fiber Festival

We had a great time vending at the Southern Adirondack Fiber Festival this weekend!

I got to meet some fellow Phat Fiber contributors and got some fibery goodies. :)

Our next show is on Oct.8th at the Eastern Great Lakes Fiber Conference so I'll be a very busy fiberista in the very short meantime.

Custom Llayover Tote FAQ

Custom Llayover Tote FAQ

Do you make custom Llayover Totes?

Why yes we do! We love bringing custom creations to our customers! :)

How do I request a custom Llayover Tote?

You can e-mail us the specs at LladyLlamaFiberCo@gmail.com. You can also convo us on Etsy, or direct message us on Ravelry.

How long does it take to get a custom Llayover Tote?

Usually 1-2 weeks after receiving the fabric your tote will be finished, photographed and listed on our Etsy shop. You will be notified via Etsy convo or e-mail directly after your reserved Etsy listing is created.

The turnaround time period is subject to change depending on how many custom orders are being worked on at a time as well as other business demands such as shows or festivals. If the turnaround time will be longer than 2 weeks you will be notified before order specifications are finalized.

How much does a custom Llayover Tote cost?

If you have no price-altering modifiers (see below) then your tote will be normally priced. Our normal prices are $15 for a medium, $12 for a small. (subject to change)

Do you require a down payment for my custom Llayover Tote?

At this time we do not require any payment in advance or down payment. We have amazing customers who are very reliable and honest, but we do reserve the right to change our custom order payment policy if we decide it becomes necessary in the future. We sincerely hope this is never necessary.

What size Llayover Totes can I choose from?

At the moment the choices are Small or Medium. Please indicate which size you would like in your custom order request to help streamline the process.

Are you making/planning on making a Large Llayover Tote?

We are currently in the product testing phase of our Large Llayover Tote.

How can I know when the Large Llayover Tote is available?

Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr, join our Ravelry group, subscribe to our Blog, or sign up for our E-Newsletter. We will be announcing the product launch on all of these forums. In fact, connecting with us in any or all of these ways is an excellent choice to keep up-to-date on all Llady Llama Fiber Co. goings-on.

How do I choose my fabric?

There are 3 options:

You can pick out your own fabric online, send us the link and have us purchase your fabric.

You can buy your own fabric and send it to us.

You can give us an idea of the fabric you would like and have us look for something for you.

What are the fabric stipulations?

We need at least ½ yard each of 2 co-ordinating fabrics. This applies to both of the current bag sizes. Fabric MUST be 100% cotton and at least 44” wide.

If Llady Llama Fiber Co. purchases my fabric does it effect the cost of the finished tote?

If the fabric + shipping works out to more than $5/yard then yes your bag price will be increased to $18 for a medium tote and $15 for a small. (subject to change)

If I send my fabric to Llady Llama Fiber Co. does it effect the cost of the finished tote?

Yes, supplying your own fabric reduces the price of a medium tote to $10 and a small tote to $8 unless you choose any other price-altering modifiers.

*You are responsible for the price of shipping the fabric to us.

*Leftover fabric will not be returned unless special arrangements are made.

*We reserve the right to re-make your custom tote or use the leftover fabric unless special

  arrangements are made.

Can I have a longer strap on my custom tote?

Why certainly! Please provide a strap length when requesting your Llayover Tote to streamline the process. Longer straps add $3 to the cost of the finished tote.

What about buttons?

If you want specific buttons please indicate this when requesting your Llayover Tote to streamline the process. Each tote requires 4 (two on each side) shank-style buttons of the same diameter. If no button preference is specified then we will choose matching buttons. If the specific buttons you request are overly expensive we will add $2 to the price of the finished tote. Otherwise, there is no additional charge.

Can I have (something not specified here)?

It never hurts to ask us! If you would like something else customized on your tote that is not discussed here then please e-mail us at LladyLlamaFiberCo@gmail.com or convo us on Etsy. We are happy to say that we have never turned down a custom request to date, although we do reserve the right to do so.

Shop on Vacation Mode April 18th-27th

Our Etsy and Artfire shops will be on vacation mode April 18th-April 27th. We are moving across the state and things will just be too hectic for the week before the move date.

We will be re-opening the shops on the 28th.

Thank you all for understanding, we are very happy to be moving back to my hometown to be closer to my family. The business should benefit greatly from this move as well. Since it is a family business, it will be helpful not to be 4 hours away from each other. :)

WIP Wednesday & Shop Update

It's WIP Wednesday and I've been making more mitered afghan squares from my handspun Phat Fiber Box contributor samples.

I even have a couple I made from the fiber I cleaned off my drumcarder after carding up all the Emperor Dragonfly sample batts for April's Phat Fiber Box. How's that for waste not want not?

I am also working on a Dumpling Bag in Cascade Yarns Pastaza color 054, it's a mix of a deep bluish purple and dark fuschia if you look very closely at the yarn.

I realized after the fact that I photographed this while it was inside out, oh well. :) It's going to be my first felted knit and I am both excited and nervous about the thought of throwing it the washer when it's done.

Shop News:

I just listed some of our new handpainted yarn in our Etsy shop!! I am so very excited for how these new bases are taking the dyes and they are all SO soft. I must admit to coveting the 70/20/10 Baby Alpaca/Silk/Cashmere Llabyrinth Lace for myself, but I was good...for now. :) The only base I haven't played with yet is the worsted and I hope to get to that this weekend.

Fiber Market Monday

Fiber Market Monday is a new Link Party set up by Dutch Hollow Acres for people to market their fiber arts products. I thought I would join the fun and spread the word!
This week in the shop we have our new and improved 2-yard wrap Lleda Niddy Noddies.

The new design features durable metal-to-metal threaded knobs ensuring a snug fit when assembled, adjusted for use or disassembled for storage or travel. These are great for winding your handspun into a tidy 2-yard skein!

I also wanted to include a reminder that our ArtFire Studio yarn clearance sale is still going on. We are switching yarn bases so all skeins dyed on the old bases are 10% off! That's everything in our Artfire shop!

WIP Wednesday & Emperor Dragonfly Batt

It's WIP Wednesday and I've been working on a couple of projects this week.

I am still plugging along on my Shetland Pi Shawl. I was gifted a 60" cable for my Harmony Circs so it's going a bit more smoothly now as it's not quite so crammed on the cable. Moving it from the 40" cable I can really start to see the size of this thing! I am just getting ready to finish up the final pattern repeat on part 4 and move on to the final increase and pattern repeat section!

Of course at the moment it just looks like a lacy blob on the needles.

Here is this week's progress on my Phat Fiber Handspun Mitered Afghan project. More squares knit up, more samples spun, plied and wrapped into cute mini-skeins. These skeins still need to have their twist set.

In Llady Llama Fiber Co. news I have finished my final colorway for April's Phat Fiber Box. Just a reminder, this month's theme is Butterflies and Flutterbyes.

Here is one of my Emperor Dragonfly sample batts. This is a hand-dyed and hand-carded blend of superwash merino, bamboo, tussah silk and firestar. As usual the pillow boxes were also made by yours truly.

Full-sized versions of all 5 LLFC colorways for April's Phat Fiber Box will be in the shop sometime next week. I will post a blog update when they are up.

WIP Wednesday-Handspun Mitered Afghan Squares

It's WIP Wednesday and I've been spindle spinning my Phat Fiber contributor box samples while my GF and I watch movies and relax in the evenings.

One of the women on the Phat Fiber Ravelry Group forum inspired me with her own similar project, to knit my little handspun mini skeins into mitered afghan squares.

This is the perfect project for me! I love making small, repetitive pieces that travel easily and give me some instant gratification, but that are assembled into one impressive whole project.

Why did I not think of this myself, and sooner? I grew up sewing scrap quilts with my grandmother, so this definitely touches a special place in my heart. Plus the little skeins and little squares are so cute!

Llady Llama Fiber Co. Spindle Display

My Dad does all the woodworking for Llady Llama Fiber Co. and around the turn of the new year he had an awesome idea for a drop spindle display for us to use at the fiber festivals we attend.

Here it is filled with every spindle in the house including my own personal collection (some even still have singles on them!)

Here it is empty. It also swivels and has a hole in the top for a sign.

It makes me grin every time I walk past it and see spindles blooming from it like some kind of crazy flower.

Luna Moth Batt with Packaging

Hot off the drumcarder! Here is an example of the Luna Moth batts I am making for my April Phat Fiber Box contributions. They are a blend of hand dyed SW BFL, hand dyed llama and natural chestnut alpaca fiber.

In the background are examples of the pillow boxes I made to package my Luna Moth samples in. They are made of textured cardstock and have been hand stamped.

Well, back to work...this fiber doesn't card itself ya'know! :)
