Brand New Shiny Blog

Welcome to my new blog! I hope some of my readers from http://ladydragontear.blogspot.com/ have followed me over here. I thought I'd start with a few questions and answers.

Why a new blog?
Well I just felt that my old blog had become more about my life and experiences as the proprietress of Llady Llama Fiber Co., and that my blog's identity should reflect that.

What can new readers expect to find here?
A little bit of everything. My knitting and spinning projects, some foodie content, information about new Llady Llama Fiber Co. products, specials, and events. Plus some general rambling about me and my life.

What is Llady Llama Fiber Co.?
LLFC is the business that I started about 1 1/2 years ago. It started from my love of all things fiber arts, and my passion for creation. While I am the sole proprietress, my family works on consignment for me and without them LLFC would never be what it is today. They truly fear when I utter the phrase, "I have an idea..." but I couldn't ask for more support or love from them all.

The Crew:
I hand dye the yarn and spinning fiber, drum card the batts, make the stitch markers and handle all the knitty gritty business stuff like management, graphic design, accounting, marketing, shipping, etc.

My Mom sews the Llayover Totes and the storage bags for the Llop-Off DPNs. She's my best friend and  helps me keep my sanity and the business going in a million little ways, including keeping my Dad on task (well, kinda....he likes to "play" around in his woodworking shop).

My Dad does all the woodworking and also makes the Llop-Off DPNs. He hand turns the drop spindles, diz and threaders, and makes our llama shaped needle gauges. He is the quiet hero of the business. I routinely present him with obscure ideas, to which he applies his ingenuity. The end result is always amazing.

My Sister sews the Llayout Needle Cases and gives big sisterly advice. Some of which I occasionally take. :)

My Grandfather is our expert sander. He hand sands all our needle gauges to a super smooth finish.

Last but especially not least is my girlfriend, Rachel. Her job is to be the best woman ever and she excels at it greatly. She has tolerated the infestation of our home by fiber, dyes, boxes, equipment and chaos. She is an illustrator and her beautiful work graces all of our products. She drew all our logos and in the future will be offering prints of her fiber arts related work in our shop.

Who is Llady Llama?

My name is Kelli, I am 25 years old and I have a background in fine arts which serendipitously led me into the wonderful world of fiber arts.

I am a spinner, knitter, dyer and all-around fiber artist with a passion for knitting needles, spindles, wheels, steamy dye pots, wool fumes and beautiful color. I seek to express a captured experience through my colorways, and hope that the energy I put into my creations will inspire your creations!!
